Set within lush gardens near the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, our homestay offers a calm place to rest while staying closely connected to local life.
Founded in 2021, Mkoani Homestay welcomes guests not as customers, but as part of our extended family.

How Mkoani Homestay Began
Mkoani Homestay started with a simple idea: to create a welcoming home for travelers while building opportunities for women in our community.
What began as a small, hands-on operation has grown into a close-knit team working together to care for guests, maintain the property, and create a peaceful space surrounded by nature.
We have grown carefully and intentionally, always keeping our focus on quality, trust, and personal connection rather than scale.
A Homestay with Purpose
We are proud to be a female-led homestay. For us, this means creating a respectful, supportive working environment where women can grow, lead, and provide for their families.
We dedicate 10% of all accommodation income to community support, focusing on women, young girls, and families in and around Moshi. This includes help with education, basic needs, and community initiatives that create long-term impact.
When you stay at Mkoani, your visit directly supports these efforts.
Our Way of Hosting

Darlie is the founder and hands-on host behind Mkoani Homestay. She works closely with the team across all areas of the homestay, from guest communication and bookings to room preparation and service quality. Her leadership style is collaborative, warm, and detail-oriented.

Flora assists with guest arrivals, payments, and daily communication, helping ensure smooth operations and positive interactions throughout each stay.

Creative Kitchen Assistant
